The pile height is the length of the fibres from the backing fabric, choosing the correct pile is not difficult, for smooth surfaces use a short pile and for rougher surfaces use a higher pile. Finally, paint can be stored within a paint roller tray or a paint scuttle these both allow for paint storage and for the paint roller refills to be saturated with paint prior to application. Many manufacturers recommend washing or priming the paint roller refills prior to its first use this should only be done with water when working with water based coatings and have all excess water removed prior to use. Make sure you have available a paint roller tray preferred with a suitable roll on and roll off area, this will allow for consistent and equal saturation of paint. Patience is essential when loading paint roller refills with paint, drag some paint from the trays reservoir onto the roll on/off area, and saturate (but not dripping) the paint roller. Apply the paint, refilling the roller refill regularly avoids starving the refill as this can damage the fabric.
